U.S. cable network Nat Geo Wild has commissioned the series Spoiled Rotten Pets, starring Mom Caves host Beth Stern, and has ordered a one-hour biopic about the life of Dog Whisperer star Cesar Millan.
Produced by Picture This Television, Spoiled Rotten Pets (6 x 30-minutes) will focus on outrageous instances of animal lovers who go all out for their pets, and the cottage industries that support pampered pet lifestyles.
Stern will follow pet owners as they throw ?Bark Mitzvahs,? give their dogs face lifts and testicular implants, visit cat spas and acupuncture centers, and organize ferret fashion shows, among other things.
Elaine Cavanaugh is the executive producer on the series for Picture This, and Jenny Apolostol is the executive producer for Nat Geo Wild.
Meanwhile, hour-long special Cesar Millan: Pack Leader, a biopic about the Leader of the Pack and Dog Whisperer star and animal behaviorist, is produced by Partisan Pictures. The show follows Millan during an international speaking tour and the production of Leader of the Pack in Spain. He reflects on his life as an illegal immigrant from Mexico who made it big in the United States.
The special is executive produced by Peter Schnall for Partisan and Apostol for Nat Geo Wild.
Finally, the network has also renewed Wicked Tuna for a second season. Produced by Pilgrim Studios, the series is about New England fishermen as they brave stormy waters in search of bluefin tuna. The next season will premiere in the U.S. and internationally in 2013.
