You may or may not have heard about it, but various surveys that had been conducted in the last decade showed staggering increase of single-adult men all over the globe. It is not because those men are not attractive or not financially secured or something like that. No, that?s not the cause. And it is also not because there are fewer women today than decades ago. Over centuries, the balance between the two sexes is relatively unchanged.

One interesting thing to notice about the phenomenon is: the increase seems to be more apparent in the Western world and in the other parts of the world where monogamous marriage is highly regarded. The increase also seems to correspond with the advancements of women?s role in the concerned society: the more advanced the women?s role in the society, the more single-adult men found. Examining the facts, one will easily guess that the issue is closely related to the shaking in modern men self-assurance.

But that?s not always the case. Indeed, many men today decide to delay their marriage age for various reasons. Some wait until they can be pretty sure that they are financially secured, some others think that they must pursue their career as high as they can before entering a marriage. Those are valid reasons, of course, and we should not question their judgments.

But on the other hand, there also those who decide not to be involved in a committed relationship because of their fears. The latter, who fear committed relationships, are often referred to as commitment phobic men. These are the men that need special attention from our society because many of them are in fact highly skilled, highly educated and very capable in their professional work. If only they could be cured from the syndrome, most of them would be a good father for their children and we would not have to lose a highly prospective generation in the future.

So, seeing the current worrisome progress, maybe it is the time for our society to establish a healing center that will also provide right guidance and right relationship advice for those unfortunate men. Disclose and disseminate the information about the signs of commitment phobia so that those who potentially have the mental obstacle may realize it before too late.
