While ACE is a not-for-profit organization, LaChusa points out that their mission ? ?to protect the public from unsafe instruction? ? was originally designed out of an obvious gap in professional instruction. Their public governing board, led by a cross-sectional group of industry professionals, continues to lead the way toward a goal of protecting the public. ACE is internationally recognized and uses an independent testing service to proctor their exams. This adds credibility to their exams because ?it?s not just a workshop for the test,? LaChusa says.

ACSM
ACSM offers two different tracks of certification, the clinical track and the health and fitness track. There are three different levels under the clinical track, which include certifications for the program director, the exercise specialist and the exercise test technologist. Likewise, there are three levels under the health and fitness track, including the health/fitness director, the health/fitness instructor and the exercise leader. ?Our tests are more indepth than any other, and we also require practical exams for all certifications which demonstrates complete competency in the health and fitness industry,? says Partlow.
