TAIPEI, Taiwan ? Four crew members died Monday and six went missing after a Panama-registered cargo vessel ran aground in heavy seas off the northern Taiwanese coast, the coast guard said.
Another 11 sailors were rescued, it said.
The Taiwanese Defense Ministry said the ship with 21 crew members broke into two after colliding into rocks off the shore of the port of Keelung in the early hours of Monday morning. The crew members' nationalities were not known.
The ministry said rescuers were looking for the missing.
Taiwan has been under the influence of Typhoon Nalgae throughout the weekend. The storm pummeled the northern Philippines on Saturday before moving toward China's Hainan island.
